Type of implant systems

There are thousands of implant systems on the market and new ones are added every day. There is no scientifically substantiated answer to the best implant system, so the choice is based on the dentist’s experience, the different prosthetic solutions each system offers, and a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s needs. The way we choose the systems we use is based on the following criteria:

  • Implants that have been tested over time
  • High quality construction, surface technology and special design points (conical connection, platform shift) that the literature currently considers important for their long-term prognosis
  • Restoration protocols regrading immediate load
  • Total cost

There is no ‘the best’ implant today, but the best for each individual case.

A special category of implants are mini-implants.

These are implants of a narrower diameter than normal, the main purpose of which is to stabilize the lower existing denture. These implants are usually placed non-traumatically without raising the gums and the pain and swelling after surgery is less. In addition, these implants are immediately loaded and the patient leaves the dental clinic the same day wearing his denture.

This implant solution has reduced costs for the patient, but the main disadvantage is the lower survival rate compared to conventional implants.
